I was Manager at Lol's Crewe shop for 12 years. Lol was a complete 'one-off'. Complete because he had so many qualities and talents. He had such flair and creativity in his work. Nobody had ever made displays of fruit and veg in this area like he did. His shops were always vibrant and attractive. Prices were always very reasonable and kind to customers pockets. Lol was dedicated to his business and he was always seeking to improve it. In the 1970's and 80's his shops in Crewe, Nantwich, Winsford, Kwiksave and Crewe Marketstall were evidence of the deserved success for his constant efforts. Lol was equally dedicated to his wife and family. His garden was a picture. He loved to 'have a laugh' and exercised his sense of humour through his named collection of garden gnomes that silently greeted those passing by the house. I will remember Lol with admiration and affection.
